I have to include Auburn in this post because if I don't, I know one or two Auburn fans who will be upset with me. (one of them will make me sleep in Maggie's room!)Auburn is looking very good coming into the new season! They are ranked 10th in the AP Top 25 Poll, and 11th in the Coach's Poll. They also have a tough schedule this year (and in case you haven't noticed, UT and Auburn will face off this year, that will make for an interesting night in my house!) Anyway, here's a look at Auburn's schedule:
08/30 vs. Louisiana-Monroe Auburn, Ala. 6:00 p.m. CT
09/06 vs. Southern Miss Auburn, Ala. 11:30 a.m. CT
09/13 at Mississippi State Starkville, Miss. 6:00 p.m. CT (conference game)
09/20 vs. LSU Auburn, Ala. TBA (conference game)
09/27 vs. Tennessee # Auburn, Ala. TBA (conference game)
10/04 at Vanderbilt Nashville, Tenn. TBA (conference game)
10/11 vs. Arkansas Auburn, Ala. TBA (conference game)
10/23 at West Virginia Morgantown, W.V. 6:30 p.m. CT
11/01 at Mississippi Oxford, Miss. TBA (conference game)
11/08 vs. Tennessee-Martin (HC) Auburn, Ala. 1:30 p.m. CT
11/15 vs. Georgia Auburn, Ala. TBA (conference game)
11/29 at Alabama # Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA (conference game)
12/06 SEC Championship * Atlanta, Ga. 4:00 p.m. ET (I guess Tennessee and Auburn are playing each other in the SEC Championship because it is listed on both schedules!)
Whoever you're rooting for this year, here's to a great football season!

Mike,
I'm sorry something is wrong with our computer. Could you please repeat what place in the rankings Auburn and Tennesee are. Can we come visit the weekend of 9/27?
Love ya!
Margaret
Margaret,
I can answer that for you. AUBURN is ranked 10th (or 11th) and tennessee is ranked 18th. According to my math that means that AUBURN is ranked HIGHER than tennessee.
Absolutely come down on the 27th. I hve a feeling I'm gonna be outnumber here in Knoxville.

Robin,
I had the same question as Margaret. Thank you for answering Margaret so quickly. Since Mike is a TV guy, I thought he might have a more professional understanding of whether Tennessee or Auburn is ranked higher. Maybe he can ask his sports guy.

See the way it works is, The higher the number, The better the team! So in this case, Tennessee is ranked BETTER than Auburn. (at least that's what my sports guys told me to tell y'all)...By the way, Robin will need all the support she can get on the 27th because I am inviting all my Tennessee friends over for a AU / UT Party! Auburn fans are also welcome! (there just aren't many of them around here :-)

Mike,
While I'm not convinced by your sports guy's math, I do agree that Robin will need alot of support on the 27th. Its going to be almost impossible for her to comfort all of those grieving Tennessee fans all by herself.

Ok, where the teams rank now is not the issue. What matters is where the two teams are ranked when they meet, and since Tennessee will be the higher ranked team, it should come as no surprise when Tennessee beats Auburn. Don't worry about Robin, there will be plenty of people here to console Robin and her one other Auburn fan when they lose.
Lets forget about Auburn and Tennesse for now and lets all pull together for The Clemson Tigers to "Beat Bama" in 11 days. That would make both of our seasons start out right. "GO TIGERS"!!! BOTH AUBURN AND CLEMSON !!!
